Aion is an electric vehicle brand established in 2018 by Guangzhou Automobile Group New Energy Co., Ltd. (GAC New Energy). GAC New Energy is a subsidiary of Guangzhou Automobile Group, founded in 2017. Aion aims to provide environmentally friendly and efficient electric vehicles to meet the needs of modern transportation. The brand is committed to developing new models equipped with the latest technologies, including wireless communication and autonomous driving systems.

The first Aion model, Aion S, was launched in 2018. It is a crossover electric vehicle with a range of innovative technologies, including wireless charging system and tire pressure monitoring system. Aion S is also equipped with an autonomous driving system that enables automated driving on highways.

GAC AION (formerly known as GAC New Energy) officially debuted as an independent brand at the 2020 Guangzhou Auto Show. CEO Gu Hinan announced that the company will be renamed as "GAC AION New Energy Co., Ltd." With the establishment of GAC AION, the company will accelerate the development of new energy and intelligent automobile products while striving to build a successful brand.
